Highwind and highwind.dev are made by Simply Fluent ("we"). This page lists the data the app and the website send to us or to the services we use, what it is for, and how to have it deleted.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for advertising.
What stays on your Mac
Your projects, configuration, logs, terminal output, environment variables, browser panes and tasks are stored on your Mac. Highwind does not send them to us. Coding agents you run in Highwind, such as Claude Code or Codex, connect to their own providers under those providers' terms.
Licensing
To start and check beta access, Highwind sends our server your Mac's hardware identifier, the app version and build number. The server stores only a hash of the hardware identifier. It is used to bind the license to your Mac.
Usage data in the app
Highwind sends usage events to TelemetryDeck and PostHog (EU servers), so we can see which features are used and what to improve. An event contains what was done (for example, a service was started or a trial began), the app version, the license tier, and counts such as how many projects and layouts exist. Each install is identified by a random ID that Highwind creates on first launch. Events don't contain project names, file paths, commands, logs or page addresses.
You can turn usage data off in Highwind's settings, under Privacy.
Crash reports
When Highwind crashes, hangs or hits an error, it sends a report to Sentry (US servers) so we can fix it. A report contains the stack trace, the app version, the macOS version and Mac model, the random install ID, a hash of the hardware identifier, the license tier, and a list of recent actions in the app. That list can include project and agent names. Reports don't include screenshots, logs or terminal output. Crash reports can't be turned off.
Feedback and support
When you send feedback from the app or the contact form, we store your message, the category, and your name and email address if you give them. Feedback from the app also includes the app version, the macOS version and the license tier. We use it to answer you and to fix what you report.
Mailing list
If you join the mailing list on the website, in the app or in the contact form, we store your email address and send you product updates, launch offers and important notices about Highwind. The list is kept in our own database and in our own Listmonk mail server. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us to be removed.
The website
- Umami. Page views are counted with Umami, which runs on our own server. It records the page, the referring site, the browser, the operating system and the country. It sets no cookies and doesn't store your IP address.
- TelemetryDeck. Only if you click Accept on the banner, the site stores a random ID in your browser and sends page views and clicks on buttons such as the download link to TelemetryDeck. If you click Decline, nothing is sent to TelemetryDeck.
- Downloads. When you download Highwind, we record the date, the page the link was on and your country.
- Cloudflare. The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address to deliver pages and block abuse. The forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that the sender is not a bot. See Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
The site sets no advertising cookies.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep feedback, mailing list addresses and license records for as long as Highwind is offered, unless you ask us to delete them. You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about you by emailing us. If you are in the EU, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
